- Microphone 'HEIL HM-i' -
2006.08.05 Is trying out the 'audio' settings in my ICOM ic-756proIII rig, initial reports was terribly bad! Now i finally got things to play! Some suggestions about audio setting was found on the heilsound.com web-site

2006.07.26 First look - Some new stuff in the shack. A secondhand HEIL HM-I microphone, i bought it from a HAM in denmark, it's specially made version for use with icom radio's. Now put to use with my ic-756proIII with a home brew mic-stand and PTT-box on the desk. I return with some initial results and reports.

Microphone ready with connections for ICOM radio's.

Now mounted on a homebrew mic stand, PTT box on the desk side.

The 'HAIL HM-i' microphone use a studio condensor element that only works on ICOM transceivers, it's now out of production @ the HAIL Factory

A 'NARROW / WIDE' selector switch allows the operator to select one of two different sound qualities from the HM- i. It was designed specifically for use with the ICOM and requires +8 volts d.c. phantom power as all ICOM transceivers provide. I read in different reviews that the 'NARROW' seting is useless! The audio sound is cut to narrow, and the sound is like 'InWather' or 'Boxed' - My experiance is likewise, stay of the 'NARROW' seting if you'r trying one of these with the ic-756proIII.
