TimeWave DSP
=========================
This is some information, mostly about the unit 'DSP+9' that i use.

The image above shows the 'DSP+9' and 'DSP+59' (To the left) on the
top of an Kenwood TS850SAT

The image is 'abducted' from a HAM-Magazine (QTC nr#9 1999) in the
article 'SM4ATJ' make some interesting comparing,- using two setups.

Setup 1. A 'old' TS-850 with external DSP+9 unit and
Setup 2. The 'new' TS-570 (1999) with built in DSP.

The most interesting finding he makes is that the 'old one' with external
DSP beats the new one in most cases, when it comes to handling signals with
great difference in strength its outstanding.

This image shows 'HOW-TO' hook it up.

The Audio output from the rig goes to the DSP+9 and then to an external
speaker, its as simple as that.

The PTT lead is used to attenuate the AF-Input on the DSP to avoid LF-
Feedback during TX.

How it works...
The TimeWave DSP+9 makes use of computer controled digital signal processing
technology to reduce Random/Tone and Noice interferance in incoming signals.
It implement the computer controled algorithms to perform four basic functions:
1) Random noise reduction
2) Adaptive multi-tone notch filtering (Heterodyne TONE noice reduction)
3) Bandbass filtering
4) RTTY remodulation

Al these can be used one by one or al togheter in numerous combinations.

The signal is feed into the device and the characteristic of the signal
and noise is analyced using a method called 'correlation'. The DSP+9
measures degree of correlation and filters out wanted signals from noise
and Heterodyne tones, this is all done in 'real-time'.

Some data
This is data for the VOICE mode only!
(I leave the CW and DATA modes whit out any remarks.)

Attenuation up to 20dB, varies with noice characteristics. Type: Adaptive with
Maximun 10msec delay.

- Tone Noice Reduction (Multiple auto notch)
Is done on the entire freq. range of any selected pandpass filter.
Attenuation up to 50dB, varies with noice characteristics. Type: Adaptive with
Maximun 10msec delay.

- Bandpass (VOICE)
300-3.4kHz, 300-2.7kHz, 300-2.1kHz or selected by jumper set
